Dragdown:Wiki News Collection/2025.04.04
Hi readers, it's Lynn! What a wild week.
The release of Olympia took a little bit for her to cooperate with us, but now all her frame data is up! Move descriptions are slowly being updated as more about her is being understood and taken apart.
In addition, we've reorganised RoA2/System Mechanics entirely -- now that it's split into many subpages, it will hopefully be much more manageable for readers in terms of responsiveness, doing away with the long load times that we encountered in the past. There are still some visual updates to be made, but it will hopefully be much better to navigate this way. We also added a RoA2/Ranked_Mode page.
There's also been a major rewrite of the floorhugging section! It has been largely simplified, no longer requiring an in-depth understanding of ASDI and SSDI as mechanics. Hopefully, sections like wall teching, DI, and SDI will also follow suit, since these are the subjects that seem to draw the most confusion in general.
In the meantime, we are probably going to be looking at new implementations for frame data displays. Expect to see some of that be changed over the next month. As a reminder, we're always going to have the most up to date information on Dragdown:Roadmap/RoA2.
As usual, if you want to contribute, join up! It can be as simple as just uploading images that need to be added, writing pieces of game knowledge, or helping with technical aspects of the wiki. If you know something about Rivals 2 and want to help, get in!
Dragdown:Wiki News Collection/2025.03.25
Hello readers! I'm Lynn, and for the past few months, I've been helping to lead the Rivals of Aether II project. The other editors and I have been working hard, ever since the game's release, with its addition to this wiki. The wiki was in a rough state in the beginning when it came to getting things looking right, and it was sorely lacking in information. I myself joined in November, and since then, I've been tirelessly working away at this project.
We have come a long way from where we were at the time of release. We really only had barebones character data, many missing asset images, mechanics descriptions that were lifted from other games without enough investigation, and many character pages were straight up blank with no info on them whatsoever. Where are we now? All the character overview pages have complete frame data, hit data, and descriptions on move usages. All the cosmetics, icons, and emotes are available for viewing. Perhaps the thing I'm most proud of, however, is System Mechanics, the page that really contains every little detail about how the game works. And yes, it even has a section that explains floorhugging, one of the most debated topics of the game. Personally, I'm very happy with the work that we've been able to do on it.
So where does that leave us now? While the Rivals 2 wiki is now currently in a very usable state for players, there are still places which require a lot of improvement. Character subpages are missing, and other visual upgrades are also still in the works. Yes, we know that some pages are so intensive that they manage to crash it, and we're working to figure that out as well. For a full roadmap of what we're working to add, you can visit our roadmap.
All that is to say, I'm proud of the work we've done, but there's plenty more work to still do. If you want to help, spread the word! A lot of people don't know the wiki exists, or they don't trust the wiki's quality because it was pushed during the game release, when none of the writing was present.
You can also join as a contributor, whether it be helping with screenshot uploads, pretty tables, writing, editing, or just giving feedback. We discuss many things in our Discord server.
Things to look out for in the future:
- Starting in May, we'll be fleshing out all the character pages. If you've got good competitor or labber experience with the character, please join the Discord and reach out (if we don't already reach to you ahead of time). If you know anybody who would be well-suited for this project, let them know too!
- There's also going to be the Olympia update. It'll likely take an hour or two for Olympia info to be online, and a little more time for uploading Olympia screenshots. Anybody who is available to contribute on that day is greatly appreciated.
- Many of our active contributors are currently fully focused on Rivals 2, including our active admins, and we're going to be pushing full steam ahead for the next few months.
All in all, thank you for reading and using the wiki. The hours and days spent working on this project are truly the most fulfilling whenever we hear someone bring it up on stream or in passing, and hearing people state how useful the wiki is makes it all the more gratifying. It means a lot!
