Standardisation
From 18 March 2025 to 31 May 2025, we will be focusing on the following projects. Progress will be graded by User:Lynnifer and User:Alqrix.
0% complete | |
|
Tasks | Description / Purpose | Progress | % |
---|---|---|---|
Character overview/subpage structure. | Outlining the best way to present information across each character page. Asking top players about the best approach to handle tasks. | Currently experimenting with tabbers for matchup pages. Still need to work on strategy and combo pages. | 10% |
Revamping RoA2/How To Play. | This page has not been touched in a long time. Needs help to be meaningfully useful for a beginner. | Not started. | 0% |
RoA2/FAQ. | This page has not been touched in a long time. Needs help to be meaningfully useful for a beginner. | Not started. | 0% |
New display for frame data and hit data. | Redundant to have a move with sourspot and sweetspot to display frame data twice over. | Have figured out a stronger display format, need to get to implementing it. | 30% |
Adding shield safety fields. | New template made. | Shield advantage has been automated, only need to manually override for some specials. | 90% |
Adding angle display fields. | Currently, only the number of 60 is often not sufficient for people to understand the best DI, as well as what is considered under DI assist. | Mostly there, just requires new assets to be generated to be up to standard. | 85% |
Implementing frame charts. | This kinda hinges on the former, but once we have frame data isolated from hit data, it should be fairly manageable. | Not started. | 0% |
Implementing hitbox display. | Being able to have an embed hitbox display, or something that can effectively show hitboxes for various windows. | We have hitbox data and an embed viewer, need to just integrate it into the new frame data system properly. | 80% |
Adding forms. | Start adding this for matchup pages and new character pages. | 0% | |
Visual improvements on RoA2/System_Mechanics. | Replacing text paragraphs with more approachable visual presentations. Images, videos, tables, graphics, all preferable to text on a screen. | A lot of sections have been upgraded. The ones that are currently not up to snuff are ledge, attacks, and aerial movement. The sections on SDI, DI, and wall teching also need help. In terms of System Mechanics as a whole, it's been separated into a bunch of pages and looks a lot better now. | 80% |
Rewriting RoA2/Universal Strategy. | Changing this to be more akin to Rivals Academy, since it is a lot more effective to do it this way. | Some articles are being drafted currently. Will be a long time before it's fully finished. | 10% |
Fixing performance issues. | We've been getting reports of users having poor performance on pages, often on mobile. Sometimes it will crash their browser. | Separated out the system mechanics page and significantly reduced burden for using it, while also improving the navigation for it. | 40% |
UI redesign for top banners (character subnavigation). | It just looks super out of place compared to the rest of the page. The idea might be to reference something like a single
, with all the subpage elements attached to it, whether it be top tabber elements, bottom tabber elements, or cards in the card. || No work started yet. || 0% |
||
RoA2/Stages. | This page is barely usable. | 0% | |
Character patch notes. | Every character's patch notes, separated by character. | Done. The only changes needed being figuring out which system changes impacted characters uniquely, but those can be updated over time. | 100% |
Character Project
Starting on 1 June 2025, the Rivals 2 team will be focused on completing the subpages for each character, including matchups, strategy, and other relevant info.
- The intent is to contact character specialists and flesh out everything necessary for an intermediate player to fully understand and use their character's toolkit.
- Character order will be determined by availability of consultants or writers.
- Anyone can feel free to contribute, though players who have tournament experience and/or demonstrate a strong handle on the character will be prioritized. If you're interested, please reach out to User:Lynnifer so that she can best figure out a good timeline for when to reach out and coordinate. Credit will be given to these players.
- After each week, User:Alqrix will help with leading review, sending pages to experts and incorporating feedback where needed.
Unfinished pages are marked with the Awaiting Character Revision flag. Editors may feel free to continue contributing to these pages as usual, but keep in mind that information may be overridden when the editing time comes. Current page layouts are also temporary and have yet to be fully decided.

Ongoing
These tasks will always come up whenever a new update has been dropped. Progress can be monitored on Dragdown Discord server. This section serves less as a monitor and more of an outline for editors to check back in on.
Task | Description / Purpose |
---|---|
Update Character Data | This can be used to fetch character data. Frame data may require manual adjustments. |
Update Character Pages | If the role of a character's move changes, it should be reflected in the overview page and any subpages for the character. |
Anything that states the previous patch version should be updated. | |
We do have to also update whatever is in the stats changes here. |
